- I like how Ben is shut out from the force by choice, reminiscent of Jedi Master Luke in the last Jedi- but not pointless.
- Help kenobi get away from what? Since there is no Vader in your story. Agree to completely disagree about the third sister being a superior foil.. I’m sure Lea will be part of what will makes kenobi stronger and view things differently along with confrontation with Vader and other factors. You want to make the show as interesting as possible since it’s only 6 episodes. Vader makes much more of a impact then the third sister and some stormtroopers.and yes he does make sense for Obi Wans journey. You got to face your demons to move forward.

Vader who never appears on screen with Kenobi at the same spot in the same time. The Grand Inquisitor. Other Inquisitors. A grandmother with a broom, frankly, given how pathetic Kenobi is right now.You want to make the show as interesting as possible since it’s only 6 episodes.
Yes, exactly. And since Kenobi is no match for Vader, there's nothing interesting about them fighting. There was not one moment of dramatic tension in the fight between Vader & Kenobi, not one split second where you thought, 'Okay, here is where Kenobi turns it around and wins this duel.'
Again, losing a fight vs. Vader isn't interesting, because almost anyone would lose a fight vs. Vader. Kenobi at his absolute best barely won against Vader.
Vader fighting someone? Oh, no! Don't tell me who wins! I'm sure it's a very close contest!
Yawn.
Vader getting reports back from the Inquisitors as a looming menace who might show up on the planet before Kenobi gets away is useful. Vader actually fighting Kenobi? Not useful or interesting at all.
Do you seriously expect me to believe you thought Kenobi might win that fight? You got to face your demons to move forward.
Which requires Vader to be physically present? No, not in the least. And again as I already said, the MOST Vader gives you is a chance to be done with the past. There is nothing in confronting Vader that gives Kenobi motivation or hope for the future. His "demons" are something to fight against, but not something to fight FOR.
According to your logic, Vader is required for Kenobi to move forward, therefore if Vader had died on Mustafar but the Emperor survived, Kenobi would never recover because his "demon" was no longer possible to confront.
It's just not true. It doesn't make any sense. The "demon" is inside Kenobi. Vader could have been made into a fun, looming threat, never quite materializing, but as a physical antagonist Vader is worse than someone that Kenobi has more hope of actually beating. - jpfit262New NoviceNo one thought that the flames gave Vader some flash backs? I mean he told the troopers to go get ‘em. And also, the fight had to look like it did, their pinnacle fight has to have build up. This is the baseline, we get to see kenobi build himself back up again.

This guy thinks episode 3 of a show is the last episode ?- You take this way to seriously. It’s a tv show meant to entertain and tell a good story. And yeah seeing Vader again is absolutely motivation. Your reminded of how strong the sith and empire are and how important the kids are for the future. Old Ben in the new hope wasn’t some happy go lucky optimist. He had let go of his guilt and that’s what we are going to see by the end of this. Kenobi at his best is match for a Vader as proven. And you’ll see that by the end of the show.
- To those wondering....
Obi Wan is 25 in Phantom Menace.
Attack of the Clones is 10 years after (aka 35)... while anakin is 19.
Revenge of the Sith is 3 years later. Kenobi is 38 and Skywalker is 22.
Kenobi show is 10 years later, known because Leia says her age and shes born in Revenge of the Sith.
That makes Kenobi 48 and Vader 32.
Which lines up with Obi Wan being 57 when Vader kills him (Vader is 41)... and Luke and Leia are 19 in a New Hope.
Vader is 44 in Empire (3 years after New Hope)
And hes 45 in Return of the Jedi (4 years after New Hope) (Luke and Leia are 23) - LordDirtNew TravelerNot much of a journey for Obi-wan to go through in six episodes. Plus he isnt going through “training” until the last three. Kind of rushed, isnt it?
Still funny how people have an issue with how Rey and Luke were portrayed in episodes 7-9 but defend this show. Hypocrisy is a hell of a thing. "LordDirt;c-2364230" wrote:

Why do you defend Rey and Luke but have an issue with this show…? That argument runs both ways.
It really seems like you’re looking for things to dislike. I’m not sure why you’re so against it so far when they seem to be ready to answer most of your questions/gripes in the last half of the show."LordDirt;c-2364234" wrote:

Grumpy Luke works better than grumpy Obi-Wan. Obi-wan has a mission, he needs to be ready to defend Luke at all times. Why cut yourself off and forget decades of training? Seems counter productive to his mission. Old Luke on the other hand watched the Empire fall and read about how the Jedi fell. He then trained to start the Jedi again and watched the cycle start all over again. He didnt want to start the trend all over again.
Rey’s story was similar to Lukes. Orphan, taken off her planet to help the Resistance ( Rebels), met a Jedi (Luke) and was trained by someone who was a trail away from being one (Leia). She studied the Jedi texts and became a Jedi herself when she faced Palpatine just like Luke did. Reys training was about as long as Luke’s. No one has an issue with him getting a few days of training from Yoda and then teaching himself after that. They dont even have an issue with him creating his own lightsaber. Luke became a Jedi Knight in one year of teaching himself and yet everyone is ok with it.
No one had anything to compare Luke’s path as a Jedi to in 1983. The prequels set the precedent that Jedi training was long. I’m fine with both Rey and Luke’s training. Different times call for different measures.
Obi-Wan has been trapped on a desert planet for ten years watching over a young kid who might be the galaxy’s only hope, with little knowledge of the outside world except for the fact that the Jedi are gone and the Sith are in power. Luke’s uncle won’t let Obi-Wan near the very kid that he’s supposed to train and watch over. He communicates with few people. Now, I know that Kenobi was one of the most powerful Jedi during the Clone Wars, but I can’t imagine that he would stay hopeful and connected to the force for the 10 years he was stuck there, not to mention that he has to hide his abilities and Force sensitivity. It makes perfect sense to me that he lost his connection to and faith in the Force.
