- M0st1yHarm1ess3 years agoSeasoned AceThe only nitpicking I had out of this otherwise awesome episode is that I would have expected the stormtroopers' helmets to have built-in camera and remote link to facial recognition. Instead they had to bring in an IPD?

They weren't dumb at all and there was a sense of tension with them in the car ride with Kenobi - Whatelse733 years agoSeasoned Ace

Darth Vader letting go of a droid that saves Obiwan... Because of some flames?! No sense because Obiwan cannot die at this point in the story. The 3rd sister is still the most competent and the others are stupid...
In short, this series deteriorates from episode to episode.
It's not a droid, someone's inside it. I'd go as far as to say even Quinlan Voss is in the droid hiding to keep helping and be covert. He's good at that kind of stuff. - LordDirt3 years agoSeasoned AceNot a bad episode but the Vader watching Obi-wan get away was dumb. The guy is right there!

Vader's toying with Obiwan. Vader doesn't consider him a threat at all and simply wants him to suffer. He's overconfident and arrogant, just as he was in ep3, and has no doubt that he'll catch Obiwan again. Seemed pretty in character to me. He also merely walked away when the falcon escapes at the end of ep5.
I did like that Reva seemed to recognize the hiding spot, like she's been there before, perhaps as a force-sensitive child being led to safety by the path. I'm really interested to see her origin story.
A droid picking up Obi-wan and a ship blasting off is not the same. They were right there in front of Vader.
I took the scene of the hiding spot as she saw the Jedi symbol and it infuriated her. - NotRealUltra3 years agoLegend

like the theory that vader wasn't as satisfied with defeating kenobi and wants him to be afraid and get a bit better before finishing him off again "LordDirt;c-2364025" wrote:

Vader was toying with Obi-Wan the entire time, fighting with only one hand and barely trying. He probably just wants to draw out the moment even more and revel in Obi-Wan's fear and pain and suffering before finally ending him. Besides he already knows where Obi-Wan is now, it shouldn't be that difficult to track him down again- I love the Star Wars community. We always give the writers and directors more credit than they deserve and make up imaginary plot lines to excuse their sloppy work. This episode started fairly strongly, but got worse and worse as it went on. My impression of the “chase” at the end was that I was watching fan fiction. And I see others have made the same comments. It was bad. As was the chase with Leia in EP 2. Whoever is directing these scenes is not good at their job. And the plot blunders are head scratching. I don’t think the writers are as smart as we’re trying to make them be. I think they just don’t know the source material very well and they aren’t good at putting a good story together. Like how does one of the strongest fighting Jedi alive lose his powers over the span of 10 years? He’s trained in them daily since he was a infant. He’s not old for a Jedi. So he just forgot? It’s a dumb plot line. And they’ve hung the entire first three episodes on it. Vader can drag Ben through fire once, but not a second time? It’s not because he wants to let him get away. It’s because the writer/director couldn’t figure out a reasonable way to let him escape. It’s sloppy and unimaginative
