Saying his mind thing was a failure on Rey is not a valid claim. Rey is a Marry Sue and written by a feminist. She knows how to bypass functions on the falcon, the most heavily modified ship in the galaxy, instead of the guy who actually modified it himself and has been piloting it for near 40 years (Han solo).
She immediately knows where everything is on a droid or ship.
She immediately, without ever having met or heard of jedi, knows how to use a mind trick, how to wield a lightsaber, how pretty much do whatever the hell she wants.
Anyways, Kylo is most definitely above Padawan level, but not at Sith Lord level. Taking into account pre-history (non-canon) Kylo would be about on par with a standard trained Sith.
If you are comparing him to Anakin being a padawan, you have to remember he was a padawan for a longer period of time than was normal due to the jedi council thinking he was #1 the chosen one and #2 possibly corrupted by the dark side which may have turned against them.
I dont think Rey is a Mary Sue and I think it will be explained in the future movie and she will be Luke's child.
I was comparing Kylo more to a Padawan Obi Wan and Apprientice Maul. Kylo at his current level I do not think he would best either of them in blade work.
I dont think Snoke gave Kylo any training tbh, well not yet as Kylo didnt know the most important thing of the dark side on how to embrace his anger fear and hate.
Dont get me wrong I believe Kylo will get stronger but in Force Awakens he was all over the place.
