I merced a bunch, both for the extra rewards (which were already relatively constrained based on the ticket system they had in place for the past few months) and so that I could help weaker guilds get through HAAT. People just assume that we merc to cheat the system, a lot of us do it to help smaller guilds, especially the many that I know who already have a 7* GK.
My main complaint here is that they do these things without telling us. It is bad enough that they only tell us after the fact that an update is live (would have been nice to know to save yesterday's GW battles for example), but on top of that they make changes to the game in secret, and these changes can have significant consequences to the players. If the game was completely free, then fine, do what you want, but people are spending money on something, and they don't know what it is they are getting on a day to day basis. EA needs to be more transparent in what they are doing, they give the player base absolutely no reason to trust them.
