The sword wasn't that expensive, compared to the other swords. For under $300 you got 6 swords, where normal swords cost $300 each. It was like you went to Payless Sword Store, and they had a Buy One Get Five Free sale.
Also, this is always how the game has operated. Baze, Shore, DN... all arena viable (on offense) at low stars. Putting DSBastila on a team doesn't make it hold any better against Revan.
If anything Revan is the super expensive shield, and Bastila is a nice little knife to the back. But when the Revan teams are moving up and they see that little tiny knife in front of them they casually just bat it away with their big fancy shield.
Revan is still by far the better defensive team. Revan still wins on offense every time against Sith. Bastila gives sith a more consistent offensive option, but doesn't help them defend against a Revan team.
