Yes, update announcements should be accompanied by a pyrotechnics display.

The login character always have some significance to what is going to happen. I just have very hard time getting ideas for what Traya could mean.

• No Old Republic content coming
  
• Likely nothing for the Siths

it is more likely she is just a powerful character so they decided to give her away as part of the celebration. I dont recall anything special attached to Han when he was the login character. I feel like GK might have, but can't say for certain.

swgohevents.com reminds me that Han was the login when the Solo movie was released, and GK was the login for the anniversary of the Clone Wars, so nothing game related. Seems like they just haven't given away traya yet, so to celebrate she is the login.
