Looking for a detailed explanation of how Potency and Tenacity work

Now that I'm getting characters up to G9 and beyond they're getting higher tenacity and potency. I'm noticing the positive effects, but I'm curious as to what the exact calculations underlying potency...

I may be wrong but as far as I'm aware this sort of information and calculations is not information that they give out.
