Lost all my progress - WTH

So I logged into the game today and it prompted me to update.
After which I am back to level 1 with all my characters, progress, resources lost

What kind of a joke is this ?? -

Signed up only to rant - I am irritated

    If on android sometimes it loses the link to play games. Most of the time can just login again to solve it. Might have to run guest account thru till level 2.

    I'm on iOS - don't see any option to logout - the game would automatically start up and was automatically updated through app store.
    tried deleting and re-installing - doesn't work.
