I like Magma. His special is very consistent with some potency mods and/or a palp lead, but he has never been truly viable. I used him as an extra hand to initially get me through the potency mod challenge before Palpatine came out, but haven't been able to use him much since then. I have him stuck at G8 because I don't want to invest 100 stun cuffs in a useless toon. His health is good, UA is cool, special is fine, but his damage is absolute trash and he has nothing else to help him. His damage needs to be significantly increased. Another idea I have is to make his special a 2 turn cooldown so he can use it every other turn. That would make him actually a threat.
