New to canon
One person? - Honestly, I'm not mad, I love this show, but I personally just don't really want Luke as a main character. Or preferably not at all. But if that's what they decide to do, I bet they have a reason and will make it work and be good.
- For Thrawn actor, they need someone who has a bizarre accent and who's not completely fluent in Galacitc Basic. I have not finished reading all the books yet, so I don't know for sure if he is still alive, but would Eli Vanto be in this?

Who would y'all cast asSpoilerThrawn?
I could see Tobias Menzies.
James Woods
Exactly! I said this awhile back, James Woods would make a perfect Thrawn. He's a little bit old but they could fix that up with some cgi and blue makeup.
But I think we should also consider David Cross.
That stache has to go!
James Woods is evil enough already! lol. I would like to see Thrawn but at the same time not. At least not the Rebels version and the book version isn't a blind follower of the Empire, so I don't think it would work unless the Imperial Remnant or First Order have something good to offer the Chiss.- LordDirt5 years agoSeasoned AceIf we can pick older actors for Grand Admiral Thrawn I would say Willem Dafoe.

Well, since I have an infinite budget, I think I might go Chiwetel Ejiofor. That said, Paul Bettany & Idris Elba are real possibilities.
And don't get me wrong, I loved Andrew Scott's Moriarty, but Scott seems a bit short for the role. As I understand it, canonically Thrawn is supposed to be tall.
As a final suggestion, if his English was good enough I'd support Donnie Yen as a high contender.
Paul Bettany played Dryden Voss in solo didn’t he ? Don’t see him as a possibility to play another character like thrawn- MasterSeedy5 years agoSeasoned Ace@Gouj4

He's a backup choice for me, but I think he can still work since the blue makeup is going to transform anyone who takes on the role of Thrawn. That said, who I think would make a good Thrawn & who the studio will actually hire are two different things.
I thought we were just saying who we would like to see in the role. If it's about who is likely to get it, then you're absolutely right, I think Bettany is out after playing a major role in Solo. - MasterSeedy5 years agoSeasoned AceThinking about the transformation required to play a Chiss & remembering that we want a tall actor, it occurred to me that even Gwendoline Christie is a possibility. She's got stage-combat training from GoT. She's got the height. She's used to wearing costumes that hide her breasts (Plus who know? the Chiss are an alien race, maybe they have manboobs more often than humans do.)
Now, again, I don't think there's a chance in heck that they would cast her, but if we're just having fun with actors who could do it, I kinda like that idea.
===> oh and Willem daFoe has a great voice for Thrawn. He's an interesting choice too, if you're going to be doing so much physical transformation for the role of a Chiss anyway, the age lines can be easily addressed. Nice one, Lord dirt! "MasterSeedy;c-2199073" wrote:

Dang...those are all hitters. I particularly like your suggestion of Chiwetel Ejiofor. My first thought was Elba may be a bit too old, but after seeing him in Hobbs and Shaw that argument is out the window.- We all know it should be Cumberbatch, but it won’t. He can’t be every cerebral character in every movie.
Plus Thrawn sounds too much like Kahn!!!
