Max on materials?

They do show a maximum in game. When you go to calibrate a mod, it's shown in the top right of the dialog box.

Because CG doesn't like players to hoard materials or currencies. Players won't spend as much money on the game if they can save resources for an upcoming event, character release, etc.

If you've got 6E mods, use them or lose them.

I'm not here to say that anyone is wrong about the X/300 info on the calibrate screen, but if you hadn't ever calibrated anything you could easily jus passively accumulate a bunch, not really learning about how to use them strategically and not knowing that it is use them or lose them.

When you get them there is no indication that there is a maximum, so if you're the kind of person who thinks the game is a bit overwhelming with so many gear pieces and mats and currencies etc. and you're trying to focus on getting better at one part of the game, it would be **very easy** to hit the max and then lose a lot of these.

I'm not complaining, and I'm not intending to join the OP in the complaint. But I know a lot of people who play some parts of the game seriously and some parts casually. If you don't mess with mods much because mods are like paperwork and they're more PITA than fun to you, the mods are going to be one of those parts you play casually.

Those players do deserve a better warning system.

Frankly, I also think that there should be a better warning system when maxing out Datacron credits.

It wouldn't be hard. Just every time you would have gotten one but it is not added to your stash because you are maxed out, the game should display the number you would have gotten and a message saying, "The game declined to give you X credits/attenuators/whatever because you have reached your storage limit for that item".

I suppose there would need to be a setting turned on by default but that you could turn off if you really, really don't want to mess with them even though you know there's a maximum. Otherwise the messages would get annoying quickly.

But overall, I think that it's a reasonable design choice to set a max (even a relatively low max like 300 attenuators) while I also sympathize with people who want warnings.

Mods are like the paperwork of the game. They are in no way fun. They can do a lot for you, just like having the right paperwork can do a lot for you -- say, prevent you from getting arrested for driving a car -- but that doesn't mean that paperwork (or going to the DMV) is fun.

This is a game.

By definition it's supposed to be fun.

If there is an aspect of the game that is not fun, the people that download SWGOH to have fun playing a game aren't going to be digging through paperwork.

Feel free to dunk on the people who say that the information isn't available. Have fun. It is, after all, technically not true and you should definitely feel superior to people who don't know something that you know. That will definitely not ever come back to bite you.

That said, there's a more limited request here that is reasonable: giving you some kind of warning when you hit the cap.

They already do this with mods. In fact, they're extra friendly about this: if you buy a mod and you don't have room for it, it sends the mod to your inbox where it waits for you to clear room.

There is literally no reason that there couldn't be more visual cues in the game about this.

Since everyone in the game scrolls through the shipments some times, you could post a "maxed out" image in red superimposed on the location where you can buy calibration mats. You could give a message whenever you are denied new earned or purchased calibration mats. You could even not really deny them, but send them to your inbox until there is room for them.

I don't really see this being high priority for CG. And it's certainly not a high priority for me personally.

That said, instead of focussing on how best to dunk on the people who didn't realize there was a cap, what if you just said, "Eh, I don't need it, but casual players might benefit and anything that makes the game more player-friendly isn't bad. Might be a good QoL update someday."

Seriously. It's not a terrible idea.

Even more seriously, if we **support each other** when folks come up with ideas that will positively impact the player base even when we personally don't need a feature, then CG is more willing to listen to us.

What's wrong with uniting behind that QoL updates are a good thing even if you personally don't use every feature?

You chose to focus on where the OP was technically wrong. And you were absolutely correct. Again, hats off to you for having the knowledge that you do. I am not challenging your knowledge or facts at all.

Instead I'm just pointing out that we can be more generous in spirit. As your later post shows, you actually agree that a warning would be a good idea.

My suggestion is limited to this: why don't we as a community (not you in particular) make this part the larger part of our responses to QoL requests?

That's a legit question. I don't know why we seem to be more interested in being right about a thing than supporting each other in giving good ideas to CG for future updates.

But even if we have our cynical days, it's much more likely that CG is taking their time with different ideas because they're assigning things different priorities. We thought ship load outs would never come to the game, but they're finally here.

This isn't a criticism of you.

This is a message of hope that we can lift each other up against the seemingly all powerful forces of EA/CG and Disney.

After all, rebellions are built on hope.

I think it's a fair point, and well said.

Such a warning would actually be beneficial to me, as I only work mods every couple of weeks. Usually when I start running out of room when switching mods. I've caught myself several times being very close to 300/300 and rushing to get some mods calibrated before doing Smugglers Run 2.

I didn't think that it was fair to complain that the information wasn't available - it's not just technically not true, it's just not true. In my opinion, too much time has been wasted on these forums by people who make claims then hide behind technicalities or semantics.

Nor is it fair, in fact almost disingenuous, to complain (see OP's follow-up) that it takes a series of clicks to get to the information. The clicks are not just to get to the information, but to get to the screen where attenuators are used, and the only screen where attenuators can be used. If a player does calibrate mods even occasionally, the information is right there where it's relevant. We all know how slowly attenuators accumulate, so someone would have to be doing it "very occasionally" to be going over the cap without realizing it. In other words, the feature becomes a usability issue only for people who almost never use it.

That said, giving a warning when some new attenuators are about to go over the cap would be a reasonable design. It would make the game behavior more consistent too, as you said.

What are you saving them for?

I ran up on the max for MA a few months ago, that is when I changed my mod strategy. I stopped rolling new mods and started working on 6E mods. M2 thermal exchange units are what I mainly farm now. Since May I increased +15 speed by 28, +20 by 23 and +25 by 9. Well worth learning to use calibration.
