There is another point. Health mods don't just give you health. One of mine gives me 49% potency as primary stat. I don't need the potency mod bonus, I can do just fine with this one I got from tier III challenge and a few hundreds of credits. This same applies to protection bonuses, armor etc.
The key is what Barrok told you guys, and I just kept my high arena rank with the same tip: use your arena team to auto the tables 1-3, go to challenges and open tier I-III of the health bonus mods. Then farm those. If you do 100 crystal refresh (free from just complete dailies + your arena payout) on this one alone for two days you get enough mods to level up and stay competitive.
This change is a new mechanic, just as was the protection patch. This new mechanic however opens lots of fun possibilities, and I am loving those! Even with just health mods, that are the baseline. With very little stuff you can get competitive, people are freaking out without even trying, that is the issue.
The other mods, yes, they need time, just like anything in the game so far. Raid gear, purple gear, they all require months to catch up and P2P players could get them from shipments. The difference is again time vs money.
My tip would be: save credits and level MK5 or MK4 mods, so you get best max results.
