Mods.. the true meta?

I mean to the person up a couple about gear being fixed it would be cool if you could mix and match certain gear pieces for the slots. I realized that half way through typing. Like I said, when I took the speed set of R2, I expected a bigger drop and the same for CLS. I was still able to solo the heroic pit raid after removing mods from CLS and raid han. I run Wedge lead, biggs, CLS, raid han and jyn. To be honest, they work better after remodding for solo pit raid that they did with the speed mods and all I did was put crit dam/chance set on CLS. Raid han and CLS lost a bit of speed, obviously, but I was able to set my phone down and walk away. No issues. Before the mod change, I would have to play it or babysit and step in. All that to say, Speed is the meta, yes. Mods themselves, without speed factored into the equation, I am not sold that they provide enough of a boost. I do wish they had a separate energy. I want to farm cantina characters AND mods. Or they could put mods into the cantina.
