- dogwelder79New TravelerThis was probably some kind of sarcasm against datacrons.
- ScoundrelRuiNew NoviceHow about this, to avoid hitting the mod cap, get rid of the mod cap (at least raise the cap by a lot)

Idea: Apply an expire date to mods similar like datacrons. Let's say 3 months.
Benefit: Reduce the possibility of hitting the mods cap.
With so few words, you have done what no CM in the history of CG has ever done. You have united the forums. Congrats - we all hate your idea."ScoundrelRui;c-2398943" wrote:

Or you could just start selling the mods you aren’t using and will probably never use.- Of course money can also negate RNG. The number of mods you get is the telling factor, money and time work the same.
- You've missed the point.
- I think you're still not understanding but I'm moving on.

Thanks for pointing out. But the mod race was never just about quantity. I have seen many players with all 6 dot mods on all toons (yes, you can buy them pretty fast). But if the speed rolls are crap, you are not competitive. With the classic modding, the goal was always having the best speed rolls. There are so many counters, which rely on certain toons being one speed faster than others. This kind of rng cannot be fully negated with money.
But all of that modding will not matter for the next 4 months. Because we have a L3 datacron, which negates all that. Actually, it even encourages bad modding, because only the weakest toon gets the bonus. That's the trend.
It is about quantity:
- the more lottery tickets you buy, the more chances you have to win something (here roll a good mod)
- Meta is now having the best 20+ teams and not just the best team
- more mods mean more possibilities to adapt at a specific situation. For instance, for your L3 dc, having the right mod you’re looking for with low prot/health and high something else you need. - neilginn243New SpectatorNo. No and just to be sure......... no

Take a look at my mods. I don’t have a crazy amount of them. Many of my toons are still on 5dots. I farmed all my mods F2P over the past 5 years playing this game. And I have built a mods inventory, which allows me to comfortably compete within Top1000 of Kyber1. You don’t have to spend money to get there. Just time.
There is no need to equip all 20+ teams of toons with high speed mods. Just focusing on the key toons in a team. That was my differentiator compare to those players I beat in GAC. But that advantage is fading away.
I stopped focusing on mods for some time now. And guess what, that does me no harm anymore. I’m still competing around the same ranks (even with K1 shrinking). I hate to say it, but datacrons had their share in it because they allowed me to reduce my investments in mods. High speed mods are becoming less and less a winning factors because teams, which rely on perfect mods, are getting less. And that’s fully intentional by CG.
I’m debating this point: The reason is simple: the chase for perfect mods/max speed cannot be won with money. It's the product of long term time investment (to negate rng). Even if you’re happy with what you have, you will still have a better mod inventory if you spent more money and/or crystals. More rolls (thanks to time/crystal/money), better mods overall.
Now is it worth the investment, if you have to choose between mods or datacrons ? That’s the whole point of your post and i’m not debating it, because i have no idea. All i can say is I stopped refreshing mod energy because it’s too time consuming and i’m starting to feel it.
