Need advice on hoarding energy

With May the 4th and double drops upcoming, I wondered whether or not it's a good idea to hoard energy as a new player (I'm level 59).

I know it's usually more effective to hoard energy (I learned this from a Darth Loquitor guide on double drops), but I would lose out on quite a bit of exp if I started to hoard now.

So my question essentially is when I should start hoarding energy if at all. Any insight would be appreciated.
