I'm running Sion (maxed gear) with a speed and a defense set. He's at 50.29% armor and when I unequip one of the defense mods it drops to 46.63% (the mod has a +1.59% defense secondary). Based on that one can calculate the armor for the "worst case" in which the unique bonus is additive. In that case it it would increase from 50.29% to 64.07%.
What other defense % bonuses do you have? Obviously 11.75% from a diamond. Primary on cross? Other secondaries?
Actually, I'll do it with mine. SiT has 43% armor (9.44% from mods). Removing his armor set reduces that to 38.97% armor.
So defense = (base defense * (100 + 11.75 + 1.5 + 1.64 + 25)/100 + 8 + 16 + 17 +25) =
1.3989 base defense + 66
0.43 = 1.3989 base defense + 66 / (1.3989 base defense + 66 + (85 * 7.5))
And of course, to verify:
0.3897 = 1.1489 base defense + 66 / (1.1489 base defense + 66 + (85 * 7.5))
In both cases, this works out to a base defense for SiT of 297 (rounded up)
On swgoh.gg, SiT it is listed as 328, which is the 25 armor from g12 (included in the formula) and the 80 agility from g12+ (don't have it). So this makes sense.
Now if we assume the additive scenario, we see that SiT's actual armor (with my mods equipped) is:
gameplay armor = 2.3989 base defense + 66 / (2.3989 base defense + 66 + (85 * 7.5))
= 778.47 / 1415.97 = 0.55
So, what would adding 2 more defense sets (assuming I keep all my secondaries the same) and a defense cross (instead of protection)?
possible armor = 3.0164 base defense + 66 / (3.0164 base defense + 66 + (85 * 7.5))
possible armor = 961.87 / 1599.37 = 0.60
This is still quite pathetic. You're giving up 23.5% protection and 20% base health (or 10% base speed) for a 5% increase in damage mitigation. This doesn't really seem worth it.
