they went over their previously established -all trequirements farmable for a while- norm and made the seperation of high grade spending vs. low/none via shards.
Eh, not really true. This has always been the way for limited events, like GI, and still is. But when it comes to permanent events, like Aphra or a GL, this has never been the case because it doesn't really matter.
Eh, totally true. The exact event this first happened is gl rey. These days even the expectation of farmability before the event is not existent. Can you recall any single event before Rey that didn't have a farm window on maps for a bit?
You can't prove me wrong by using my own point against me. All GL events (and BAM, SK, Aprha) are permanent events and have never had 100% of requirements farmable for any period of time before the event, unlike all Legendary events which have had some amount of farming time.
How much time did exist when all toons are made farmable for GI? The time that existed b4 for such was enough to patch it up with a bit of pile even for f2p.
The same time as has always been: ~3 weeks. The last Inquisitor was released to a node on 6/8 and the GI event ended on 6/30. For reference, I checked the JKR event. The last two Marquee were on a node on 9/26 with the event ending on 10/25. An extra week in there because you had an extra character to farm on short notice.
Ok then, my memory fails me. In relation to the topic, the -gap widening- argument is even less of an issue then. Actual experience of how it runs showcased the r9 req is even less of an issue when you can't max previous zones leading there.
Yeah, after running it it's clear there really isn't a gap widening issue here. We are a top 20 guild, we got 30*, same as (it seems) all of the top 100 guilds. I think the top 5 guilds maybe did a handful more stars, but they aren't getting drastically more rewards (because the r8/r9 rewards are absolute complete garbage).
Honestly, I was very much on the negative side of this at announcement, but after seeing it, the TB is fine. I still think the relic requirements are dumb, but overall the TB is good and for a guild our size the rewards are excellent for the effort. Although, the officers will probably burn out before too long because CG still failed to make the management side any easier.
Do you have any idea how difficult it is to get 1 character to relic 8 or 9? Even 7 I would argue is very hard. Most people are completely dry on signal data and they still have characters to farm in cantina nodes. Scrap is still not easy to come by once you get to relic 5 and even farming some of the gear 12 finisher pieces is incredibly slow. I was stuck for like month on the last 3 characters for SLKR cause between sith trooper, stormtrooper and veteran Han j needed like 4-5 furnaces and that alone took forever.
Yes, I know exactly how difficult it is. I am a launch player and have 11 r8 (only 1 of which is because I wanted to) and 2 r9. r7 isn't terrible anymore, but still rough because of material overlap and how long it takes to farm signal data. I have no cantina farms left, but when they put new characters there I always pause my SD farm to finish the character.
After finishing my farm to g13 I still have a bunch of relic levels and I'm basically dry, I have NO gear 12 finishers, no kyro, no signal data and I still have to scrap a bunch of gear 12 to get a bunch of characters to relic 5.
As a retuning player I've been playing for 6 months and other than Malak and GAS who I unlocked shortly after returning to the game, I have only been able to gear 13 the characters that are required for SLKR and nothing else. I've been getting top 3 in every single sith raid in my guild, which takes so much effort and I still find myself completely dry of g12 pieces all the time. Even now that I have all SLKR requirements at g13 it will be a long time till everyone is on the right relic levels and then I have to spend more time farming tickets and then even longer to farm his ultimate. Not to mention since I have no gear or relic mats left when I get SLKR it could be another month before I get him to relic 7 or so.
This notion that the game has catch up mechanisms is ridiculous. The grind is horribly slow, G12 right side pieces are still a massive problem, signal data is still a massive problem. You have all been played because CG made the first two phases of this new TB easy so people like you can get a little bone and get off their back. Wait until you realize that those two extra relic levels are not as easy as you think to get.
The gap issue was between F2P and whales, not new players and old players. You are of course going to have to catch up as a new (or returning) player, thinking otherwise is just silly. I agree with most of the rest of the stuff you said, though. The game is very grindy, the bottlenecks are ridiculous, and catching up should be easier. But you should still have to catch up if you haven't been here for 7 years.
Also, if you read any of my other posts here, you know I'm fully well aware of the difficulty of getting to r8/r9 and how crazy it is that they claim they've made either of those easier.
