From 4 star to maxed requires 250 shards. Assuming worst rng and 20 shards per replay (10 lots of 2). This is about 20k crystals.
How long would event 4 last and is there a daily refresh?
I'm not sure how long event 4 would last, probably a few days. So you'd get 10 free tries per day. The reward tuning would be such that you would need around ~3-6 months (depending on luck and how frequently we re-run the event) to get both characters to 7-stars as 100% zero crystal spend. The experience would be roughly what f2p people are getting now with the second Palpatine occurrence. (I think...?) Except that instead of waiting months and months with nothing going on, you'd periodically be making incremental progress as the event returns.
