Have you considered there are people who simply want to be able to find the game rewarding without having to unlock and upgrade characters they don't even want? Most of us have rosters with plenty of well-developed characters in them. Generally speaking, nearly any upgraded squad with synergy should be able to earn mid-level rewards. I don't think events should be specific to any one squad or new faction. It's a money-grubbing philosophy and I have seen sufficient evidence that it will always lead to poorer quality in the long term due to the objective being money itself rather than pride in the integrity of the work being produced.
tl'dr: Then play a different game, because the core concept of a hero collector is unlocking and upgrading new characters.
I don't understand this point. Do you play racing games and wish they included a card game component? Do you expect a rewarding side-scroller platformer experience from turn-based strategies? Are there not enough hairstyle options in your tactical shooter of choice?
"Generally speaking, nearly any upgraded squad with synergy should be able to earn mid-level rewards." Then play CPit or HSTR. You don't have to play the new raid if you don't want to. The only thing you'll be missing out on if you stick to a previous raid is mk3 tokens, which are primarily used for R8/9 upgrades, but if you just want to focus on your favorite characters and look away from the new ones, you can skip R8/9 for those, those relic upgrades also aren't mandatory outside of requirements.
Faction-locked raids aren't a new thing, this is the 4th one. Were you raising that same complaint when Krayt released, or are you just chafed about O66 because you haven't worked on the raid teams for it after CG announced which teams would be part of the raid? I myself don't have everything yet. I have the Bad Batch. I have some JVs with KB and Jocasta. I only have 1/5 Clones at relic level. I got 4.65mln on the 2nd run of O66. Is it the score I was getting in the Naboo raid? No. But I'm getting there. This has been the structure of every new raid forever: new raid arrives, scores plummet, the raid is solved, people build up teams for it, scores and rewards improve. That's how guild raids work.
You don't think events should be limited to specific characters or factions. What do you mean by that, exactly? Guild events? All events? Should all Assault Battles be open to all characters? Are you okay with alignment limitations in Territory Battles? Galactic Challenges? Conquest feats?
I think the only areas of the game that are completely free-for-all are PVP and legacy raids. Character and faction limits have been a part of SWGOH since day 1 (dark side/light side holotables that every player had to beat before the HDB). Should we be able to unlock legendary characters with whatever's in your roster? Want the latest GL? No problem. No requirements, just beat the battles with whatever. If you can swing it with lvl1 jawas, you get the GL. If this was the state of the game, I bet that you would see players complaining about wasted resources put into trash toons that then still get slaughtered. "I R9'd all my Jawas but they can't beat LV with Clones, this is a scam, I demand a refund."
CG want their game to make money? You don't say. However, the statement that being profit-driven in any way means that you can't be proud of your work is a ridiculous assertion. Do you really think no one who made money on their work has ever been proud of their work?
SWGOH is always just about to die. I bet not a day goes by without some player somewhere saying that the game is dying. I don't know the player numbers or the revenue, so sure, maybe. What I can see is that updates don't look like a dying game's content. This year has brought a standardized schedule that results in more new characters released per year than previously. A new raid has just been released. Of course there are things we all wish CG would work on instead or alongside this new content, but they're not doing nothing. CG make plenty of braindead moves, but I think they would at least tell us if the game was being sunseted. They announced it what that happened with their LOTR game.
