Not trying to start a war of words here... but put yourself in their EA/CG's shoes. You put an app on Google's Play store that is making millions. Google's owns and operates this playstore. They come to you asking about a special event for their Google Play Month. You get to be 1 of 4 games that gets "free" advertising. Would you tell them no, because that would alienate iOS? How do you think Google would like that?

I know you are coming from the playerbase side of things, so it's harder to see it from their side but I really don't think anyone is trying to alienate anyone. They are just trying to join in the festivities of a company they want continue to see succeed (which in turn will help them be more successful).

Things like this allow the dev teams to hire more people which in turn can help grow the games content.

What decisions has EA made with this game in the past to in anyway suggest this would ever happen? The game is likely kept on a strict budget and staff limit to rake in maximum profit
