Please stop doing this

Dear CG,

As a player for over 5 years, not free to play, I just have to tell you that I’m starting to think about quitting this game. Yes, it’s a free game, but the heart of it is getting wrecked.

The cosmetic updates are kind of cool, but for me the game is about being able to achieve newly set goals with a couple of fellow minded nerds. Due to a combination of factors, achieving those goals is getting harder and less fun with the last updates. Who in their right mind is going to pay for those episode passes when we got so much stuff for free before. There wasn’t anything wrong to me with GC, even though some requirements were really bothersome from time to time (who has a Tusken squad?).

With these last updates it feels like you’re shifting your player base away from Star Wars fans and towards people who are willing to keep on paying for a game. If that’s fine with you guys, there’s not much left for me here. I could do so many other things with the time I spend on SWGOH. For now I decided I’m not spending any more money until this game feels like it supports their players. You guys were so on the right track for me, love the Ahsoka stuff, love Jar Jar. But right now to me you’re just one bad decision away from having me (and some of my guild members) quit. I hope it’s not something like an Acolyte meta, but it’ll probably have to do with getting less resources unless you pay more money again. For someone who doesn’t have a lot of income, the choice is becoming easier with the last updates. Apparently this game is not for me anymore.

I really hope this thing turns around

  • I searched Google looking for news of the Acolyte characters being added to the game but instead of any official announcement I just found this post. I don't get it. Has incel snub culture taken over the game? Really trying to figure out why I'm seeing a Skeleton Crew character before even a single Acolyte character was released. And the reiteration of Bad Batch is the most disgustingly redundant thing I've seen in a long while.

  • We’re starting to get Skeleton Crew characters because the show has an interesting concept, great writing, and perfectly acceptable acting, and it built on to the Star Wars universe, as well as the fact that the majority of fans enjoyed it.

They made a new bad batch team because the characters themselves have all changed physically and emotionally since the first rendition. As well as it being a show that was enjoyed by the fans.

I wouldn’t be mad if we got a character from acolyte, (after all we already have characters from the sequels) but I would be totally content if they don’t come.

And isn’t the fact that CG is giving us characters from shows that generally went over well a good thing? I frankly don’t see a problem with that.

Sol and Qimir were good characters by any metric. I wouldn’t mind if they were added

Have you seen the ratings for the Acolyte?  As compared to skeleton crew?  The show is abysmal, it contradicts star wars lore and even its own at times.  The characters don't make sense, and the writing was rubbish.

It's not a politik thing, it's a revenue projection thing.  They're probably also looking at the revenue SWTOR got from their acolyte store items to see the numbers there, along with other real merchandise being sold for different shows.  I'm guessing Acolyte merchandise isn't worth being made.

  • You mean the outrage contagion worked? Then integrity is lost. Half of the characters in-game are not-wants. I'd include New Trilogy among those but I expected the content to at least correspond with the canon Disney offered since that is what we've been force-fed up to this point. I honestly don't care about who was discouraged by the show; I want consistency from the offerings, otherwise it reveals bias. These are simply nfts CG is making. They have whatever value sets them apart from the others. That is primarily found in the kits but the original commenter seems to dislike the idea of metas now. Doesn't even want to play if characters show their faces? That's weird. It's antisocial personality disorder that contaminates this fandom more than anything else, me thinks.

Because the Acolyte sucked overall it basically shamed the Star Wars community as a whole tho there were a few characters that stood out and would be cool in game like Jecki and Yord, Sol, and maybe Qimir. But if they added the twins I would literally play their marquee and never hit unlock even if they became a requirement. Like how Rey used to be unlikable as a gl or character but then because of a LSB became somewhat relevant and is much better than the Acolyte.

I had no reason to feel shamed. Disappointed maybe but mostly by the reaction to the show by creeps and weirdos. It reminded me of what things were like during the release of Ep 1. Silly, I mean. Inexplicably so. It would seem you are saying to release only characters you do like and not ones you may like later otherwise you'll throw a tantrum. You aren't the only one playing this. But the argument keeps switching from one rationale to another, nonsensically. How can you complain that a kit is bad when that kit doesn't exist yet? Why would one intellectual property be redeemable but not the other? I think there's a word for that but I can't write it here. Weird. I just say weird now. Anyway...I see some other members have recently replied to threads on Acolyte character kit concepts. I'm going to take a look at those. Thanks!

Well said. The quality of a character (or lack thereof in this case) within their product should in no way be the fundamental basis of an opinion for that same character's viability/usefulness within this game. Rey is a perfect example of this - a very poorly written character within the movies, but a fantastic unit to have in the game.

I don't buy the passes. Self control is my solution. I'm not tryna be a broke boy. And I have a Tusken squad. Hindsight is 20/20.

Are you referring to the rotten tomato score of 78 percent? Not bad. Certified fresh.
If you are referring to the user score, it was like that before the show came out. Tells us more about Star Wars “fans” than it does the Acolyte. Lots of racist, obese, women hating, moms basement dwelling incels. They can’t spot a good deodorant let alone a good story.
