Not mine, but dates back to July/August 2016 when Modgate nearly broke the game. In my estimation, about one quarter of all players stopped playing as a result - many permanently.

Basically, they released mods unfettished and if the mod fairy smiled on you, you received Mk VII mods like this. If you didn't, you were stuffed and had no chance of competing. Hence the exodus. It was also on the back of Pre-crafting, so there was already a significant group of disgruntled players.

Some of my guildies tell me, they could get their Royal Guard (the preferred tank of the time) to a H/P of 300k; and their stick Rey's were capable of critting for several hundred thousand points and one-shotting virtually every toon.

In response, they pruned back all mods to Mk V and set relatively small limits on their abilities to appease the playing mass.
