This has already been established, Kcm.
Haruk mistakenly thought that the tourney worked like the M:AA ones, based on targets to reach (i.e, score more than x points to unlock prize y etc etc...).
So if everybody was putting weak teams in defense more players would be able to accumulate the number of points needed to unlock the big prize (Jyn is this case).
