The top X people (however many that is) get the character. Top X is determined by how many points they have--not by reaching a threshold value.

Yes, the good ol' days...a community response to the crazy PVP of MAA. The PVP of MAA ruined that game for me.

Having lots of people set weak defense teams will only serve to increase the gap between the top players who have more extensive rosters and the players who don't. The same number of people will get the toon either way.

If you're smart, you will go with this weak defense strategy. I know I will. It will pretty much guarantee you a breezy top 25 spot. Don't listen to these tricksters who try to stop you from using their secret method.

And if all but me have a weak defense, means i only fight easy nodes (aka 5-0) and others have one hard fight (against me). Let's say my fast Wiggs always kills one toon, then everybody else has at least one fight won 4-1 at max.
If we all have the same roster, same amount of ally points, and fight at least once against everyone else, I will have reached #1 at the end of the tournament.

Will be setting my best team on defense. You want your team to make it tougher for them and hopefully take a few of their toons down so they get lesser points. You want to earn as much points as possible. Setting a low defensive team will make it tougher for you because everyone around you will be scoring more when they attack your team.

I'm setting a super weak defense team just because I personally love finding a weak team to fight against during a tournament.

Don't really care if it's hurting my chance. I'm not going to be in the top 25 anyway.

Yeah, OP, this is like old Avengers Allience tournaments, where the only thing that matters is %.

He's talking about 2 conflicting ideas:

In said game, they eventually made it you ranked based on a % OR a point threshold.

And the weak teams was because once defence teams became a thing, you could change them any time, and you got rewards for your first 5 wins, sometimes it's be a Lockbox, you collect covers from them, and at 8 covers, you got the villain-turned-hero (with some exceptions) as a result, in tournaments where that was, some would intentionally set a weak team to tank their ranking, so their 5 wins were against other easy teams, then fight like crazy after they got the new guy.

Not sure how those came together.

funny thing about that is, every weak team you encounter will also be encountered by your competitors. Wich basically means you all just did 1 extra battle for free and it didnt change the order you were ranked in. Yeey ;)
good thing these tournaments aren't time consuming AF... o wait..
