On their second runs, really any events second run, it can’t be considered P2P anymore (maybe executor because of the insane relic costs but even then the argument can be made it isn’t)

No no, if you have to use any sort of restraint or forethought based on the history of character releases, it's definitely P2P. No one can possibly hoard resources until the next big announcement. Can't be done.

I love the idea since it means newer players will have access to big characters. As it stands, without this, the more Conquests we have the harder it becomes to get old Conquest characters.

All that said…….. can I pway, too? ???

I’d like to do it at least once. I know there won’t be rewards and respect that you don’t want it to be a shard shop currency source, but… I can has play?

So everyone should have no issues having tens of thousands of crystals always saved up? That’s not feasible or F2P.

OG 5* legendaries were F2P because of the extra time to farm. Almost everyone got the new toons at 5* with whales/spenders getting them 7* on the first run. Then that grouping of 5* unlocks got smaller with more difficult events like Chewbacca and Padme. Once JKR and journey events hit that was all she wrote on F2P getting them the first run without tens of thousands of crystals saved up. By doing that they would severely hinder their progress in hopes of having the next meta team for squad arena. So yes, those events were P2P and caused a controversy over how high the pay wall was getting.

And you know what? That’s fine. Spenders should get first crack and the most bang for their buck. I’ll admit when JKR came out and was such a high paywall I was one of those angry but by the time Malak rolled around I accepted it and worked with off Meta stuff to fight with the spenders in SA. I was ok with big spenders having an edge.

You are confusing easily accessible and F2P. Not every f2p player needs to be able to do something first run for it to have been f2p accessible. Like I said, there is a F2P tip of the spear just like there is for spenders

I don't understand how you think hoarding 10s of thousands of crystals was not normal for F2P. It's literally the only way to be ready for the next meta, and so many F2P played that way. Still do even though the concept of meta is different now.

I seriously can't believe people actually think that being the "tip of the spear" as a f2p is that much different than for p2p. Both mean going above and beyond their peers. For one that means spending more money, for the other that means being extremely patient and mindful of resources. In other words, what StarSon said about F2p players

I just wish the relic reqs’s weren’t in there. Maybe G12? Especially if there’s no other stores or node she or other units are going to.

You weren’t going to unlock the character in 3 primary and 3 secondary Conquests without some relic 3 characters. This accounts for that. It’s like a height requirement on a roller coaster.

Which meant that other progression of your roster usually ground to a snails pace, if not a hault. However that still wasn’t enough for CG to stop everyone getting the toons. Then they added a GET farm for GAS and Malak forcing that hoarding and then hoarding for the new cap ships. Heck even gas needed not just that but also the hoards of crystals just for a 5* unlock.

Bottom line is those toons weren’t F2P. There were massive paywalls involved and those paywalls have steadily gotten higher over time.

Of course other progression stopped. That was the tradeoff. You stopped other progression so you could stay at the top of the meta. Doesn't change the fact that every character you listed was obtainable first run as an F2P, and doesn't change the fact that the paywalls have not gone up from $0.

Saving up 10,000 crystals for one meta is one thing, doing it for every single meta is quite another. I’m trying to stay on top of 10k right now, and the need to refresh energy and cantina energy is a big drain on that.

Granted I did spend 1.9k crystals because I was off a 7* GAS by 5 shards / 500 GET 1, and will probably spend a similar amount on Boba SoJ… idk.

As I recall, those releases were marquees every few weeks, then a short time later 'new even't. It wasn't impossible to get them F2P on the first run, but it definitely wasn't easy. The massive majority of those unlocking first run paid in one way or another to get there. They didn't necessarily fork out 3-400 to make it happen, but it wasn't straight F2P for the most part. I think on JKR and DR i got them F2P on the 2nd run? not sure, but it still cost me like 10K worth of crystals to get ready by the second run. I could be off a bit, it was a good while ago :)
