- Screerider4 years agoSeasoned AceI haven't spent a single penny (whether actual, digital, gift card, etc.) on this game. Am I F2P?
- Screerider4 years agoSeasoned AceBut I got those crystals without spending for them. I got those crystals... for free. Does getting free crystals access my bank account or credit card in a way I'm unaware of?

JKR was roughly $300…that’s how much it is for a new marquee toon. It’s certainly gotten higher lol.
This is terrible news. I got JKR F2P when he was launched, without saving up any crystals. I had no idea I was supposed to pay $300. Does anyone know how I retroactively pay CG? I don't want to get banned for this. Please, it was an honest mistake.... - dmgutie4 years agoNew Veteran

Really? So without spending a single dime or hoarded mass amounts of crystals you were able to farm marquee toons for JKR? That means that you didn’t spend any crystals on the packs for Bastilla, Jolee, Zalbaar or Mission? I’d love to see proof of that honestly because it’s just not palpable
Yes. Dropped everything I was farming and spent 100% of my resources on farming for JKR the second they added Bastilla to the game. Even neglected mods. It would have been much easier if I was getting top arena payout at the time, but back then I couldn't break the top 10. Obviously I can't prove that I didn't spend crystals four years ago, but in general the whole "xyz toon costs 123 dollars" thing has always just been overblown exaggerations by people who don't want to admit that they regret the way they distributed their in game resources. - ccmoose4 years agoSeasoned AceProving Grounds is less interesting than how folks farmed JKR 3.5 years ago? Not that I disagree. Just pointing out that this is NOT new content for many.

well they backtracked from calling it a "new mode" to a "new event" quite quickly. :joy:- MasterSeedy4 years agoSeasoned AceYeah, I got the Revans on the 2nd pass. Got most things on the 2nd pass entirely FtP. CLS, well, I got him on the first pass FTP. Same with Thrawn. Threepio took until the 3rd pass, everyone else 2nd, I think, until they moved off that model entirely.
Getting things FtP isn't hard if you don't have to have them on day 1, and getting them FtP on day 1 is possible for me now, it just took a long time of collecting resources to the point where I have that option (at least for 1 or 2 things, but then I would need some time to save up resources again).
If you want to be FtP, though, figuring out the wisest, most cost-effective way to spend your crystals is a must.SpoilerOf course, full confession: I spent $20 or $25 when I first got the game. I don't like the Pay-to-play model, but I also think it's only right and fair that programmers earn a salary to eat and have a home just like everyone else. So I gave them money right away when I thought I would keep the game and play it for a while, but I've never given money since, nor for any particular character, and I took a 6-month break where I missed far more in crystals than I gained by my initial splurge, so although I'm not technically free to play, I've been FtP since late 2016 and anyone who started the game within 3 months of when I did would probably be ahead of me while spending no money whatsoever since I lost with my break more than I gained by spending in Jan 2016. Thus I think it's still fair to use my account as an example of what's possible without ever spending a cent. "DMG_SW;c-2354252" wrote:

I'd say it's more an exaggeration by people who don't have patience. Time is money, and vice-versa. Some folks have to have it right now so they'll spend money for it. Others are willing to wait and will spend time for it.
I think I finally got Revan on the third run of the event because I started farming Jolee late and don't do refreshes on nodes, so I'm limited to the 3/5/8 tries per day depending on the era the game was in. But I got him and didn't pay anything for him.
It's the "tip of the spear" comment that got blown out of proportion, when you think about it. They don't create anything with the expectation that players MUST pay for it. They create things with the certainty thatsome peoplea very small number WILL pay for it, and the rest will get it free on the second or third and later runs of the event.
(Edited for precision--"some people" was too vague.)
