To add to this. I understand there's a long list of gameplay mechanic fixes, but let's not forget this is a game. The sole focus of a game is for entertainment. Not everybody's in Kyber or Aurodium, not everybody cares for the competitive nature of the game. There are more players focused on the enjoyment of the game than there are players who focus on the competition, especially when it comes to datacrons. Appealing to the majority of players is healthy. We all saw how positively the community reacted to the New Player update which quickened the time it took to reach lvl 85. That's a suggestion nobody would have thought of because too many of us are focused on suggestions that would benefit the top players instead of an update that would have appealed to new/casual players. This suggestion would benefit both because it isn't a gameplay enhancement but instead a database for all players to enjoy.
Also, you stated that there were external sites or applications that could be used as a substitute for possible in-game features. But you also listed 'mod snapshot capabilities' as a possible suggestion, I believe that Hot Utils already has a feature like that. Hot Utils is also an external tool that players can take advantage of to make up for the lack of an in-game feature. But having that feature in-game would be ideal, which is my point. It's not about the difficulty of leaving the game to read up on actual characters' biographies on a SW database, it's the convenience of having it right there in the game so that you don't have to leave in order to get what you're looking for.
Edit: this comment posted before I’d finished writing it. The new forums are not making a good first impression!

Edit: Why did you edit your post and remove what you said instead of just adding what you missed? I addressed everything you had written so why did you delete it all? Don't try to cover it up just because you made a weak argument...
HotUtils is still an application that makes up for the lack of an in-game feature, doesn't it? The same thing you were arguing for? Or is it not part of your argument if you have to pay for it? Why draw the line there? If you argue against a comprehensive in-game chat because they can just download Discord, why not download HotUtils for the plethora of QoL changes instead of suggesting they be implemented in the game? Or do you only draw the line where you are comfortable and the rest would have to deal with it?
Wookiepedia costs time out of the player's day to go to the site and search up the character, to then read about it. Again. Like I had already written. It's about the ease of convenience.
It's a fun suggestion lol. That's the whole point of the post. Who wouldn't love to read about their favorite characters? Who knows, you might be vastly underestimating how many people would find this feature entertaining or useful.
The character portrait update was an eye-opener for me because my entire guild was just ecstatic. It wasn't a gameplay change and it didn't make any facet of the game easier. It was just fun. The majority of the player base, from what I can tell, was excited about this change and I hadn't been excited over an update like that in a long time. It was a breath of fresh air. The same thing goes with the introduction of the PC Client and that smooth frame rate. All these aesthetic-based changes are good for keeping the game fresh and exciting.- DarjeloSalas7 months agoSeasoned Veteran
Mod snapshot functionality would be a genuine QOL improvement to every single person who plays this game. It’s not so much the fact it costs money that makes me think of it differently from your suggestion, it’s the fact that it has an actual impact to playing the game. Your suggestion would have absolutely no impact on playing the game, so it doesn’t qualify as a QOL suggestion.
As for your follow up comments, where you suggest that the majority of the player base was anything other than confused and bewildered by the character portrait update, I’m just not sure where you’ve been looking to come to that conclusion.
I think the response has been the complete opposite of that. And if the game were to be updated with an additional character / ship lore database, the reaction would be the same, only orders of magnitude worse.

Mod snapshot only benefits players who care enough to make mod loadouts as well as players who care enough to move mods for events such as raids or TW. Which is a minority of the player base. Again you speak from the position of a player who is more competitive. Your suggestion benefits you and your camp. I would classify the PC client and the portrait update as QoL even if it doesn't affect gameplay. It benefits everyone cause everyone can enjoy it, because it's more of an aesthetic change. Similar to my suggestion.
I came to that conclusion from the reactions of my guild as well as the reactions of top swgoh YouTubers. I've seen both positive and negative receptions to the portrait change.
As for my suggestion having no impact on gameplay...that's the point!!! Its for fun!!! Ive tried explaining that every response lmao. You're gameplay minded which isn't a bad thing but wow it's shortsighted. Not everything has to be gameplay oriented, listening to meta players has been the downfall of many games. The best argument you've used is that it could be memory-intensive which I agree with. That alone could be the reason I drop this suggestion but another commenter says there could be a work around it so who knows.
You also never addressed your hypocrisy either. You state that Discord is a substitute for a more comprehensive in-game chat therefore it isn't needed. But you don't address the fact that HoUtils has a lot of QoL features built into it, therefore your suggestions would also be unneeded. Just use HotUtils.
