Reduce upfront cost to make a toon usable

Contrary to the popular opinion, I would like to see more buff and nerf in this game for his health.

However, this can't happen as of now, because the upfront cost to make a toon viable are too high: 7* and G11 (without counting speed secondary mods). Toons cost in general around 15k (100$) crystals of gear and around 8M credits or 1.5 month of farming. That is unfortunately too high, and I understand why players are really angry when there are nerfs.

Please consider reducing the time/crystals investment for making toons viable and I would gladly welcome more balance from the Devs.

  • The gear is the issue.

The investment to get to G11, with G12 no doubt coming soon, is huge.

You can't risk gearing up the wrong toons, the opportunity cost of getting it wrong is too high.

It has become impossible to say 'I think I'll try a different team, maybe clones\Jedi\sith\Empire or whatever'.

You are looking at weeks to get a single character usable, even spending money, and even putting aside the shard requirements. Doing it for 4 or 5 characters, forget about it.

Even if you are confident you are on the right track with your character choices, by the time you've finished building them, the track can have changed direction completely.

I've barely geared a single character in weeks, I've now started hoarding gear because I'm afraid to use it, I can't face grinding it again if I make a poor choice, so I'm not making any choices!
  • Useless thread - not because you're wrong, I am agree with you, but because I think nothing will change...

This is my biggest concern. If new gear levels come soon, but no relief from the G8-G10 bottleneck (i.e., the cuffs, holos, carbantis, etc...), there will become massive narrowing of viable rosters -- many people will end up with a single team at higher gear levels.

Currently, G10 is viable, even in high-end arena, because there often isn't a huge difference between G10 and G11 for many characters (some, like Boba who has +12 speed after G11, there is). If you start adding G12 and up, then the differences become far more drastic and you have to get people to G11+ in order to compete. That requires ignoring everyone who still needs to get to G9 and delays real roster development.

We can only hope that, if and when new gear levels are released, something is done to alleviate the lower tier gear bottleneck.

  • It isn't hard to gear a toon. Take General Kenobi, which required the gear for 2 toons to get to gear 11. A little planning, swgoh.gg tells you how much you need, and start farming the gear in advance. So with GK, I farmed 6 raids out. By the time he was unlocked, gear 11 from the get go. I did use crystals to buy the last fully crafted MK3 Carbanti but all that was used was arena payout crystals. $0 used for GK to gear 11.

Take Nihilus, I was already saving gear and since DT and Krennic weren't worth the cost to 7*, I already had a head start on whatever gear might be needed. Most of the toons in the same fraction require the same gear. All you have to do is look at them on swgoh.gg and see the gear list for other toons. And you know crap like droid callers are always needed.

You just have to be disciplined and not waste gear on toons that aren't worth it. That is usually where people fail and you hear crying about credit crunch or gear crunch.

Obviously you did not get my point: I also maxed GK when I unlocked it for $0, that's no wonder.
My point is you would be really annoyed and angry if CG nerfed him after your geared him, and the reason is you invested a lot in him and Devs should improve the situation.

6 raids out is 3 weeks. In 3 weeks you were able to accumulate 400 carbantis (with the other 50 coming from the crystals), 200 cuffs, 150 stun guns, 80 holos, and all the other necessary gear? Or did you have a whole lot of some of these things sitting around? How many crystals did you use on refreshes?

Good point, I took 8 weeks to collect all the gear.
  • Gear challenges, like mod challenges would be good and the ability to remove gear from the god awful useless toons we have all invested in.

But all moot, nowt will get done.

    Strictly cuffs and guns
  • I would never farm droid callers over Syringes: you have a higher drop rates for callers and also DS 9B where you can easily get them while farming higher gear.

Syringes are used for almost everything (Furnaces and Barca gel) and are often the biggest bottleneck for farming attackers.

Concerning raid gear: I would love to get more carbantis mk3 that being said. They made sure we can't level as many tanks as we wished with the Carbantis requirements. By the way I find odd that Carbantis for tanks comes from the attacker challenge and Syringes for attacker comes from support xD
