Is this one really decent value?
I saw it and thought it gave very little, genuinely curious haha.
It gets a little dicey putting values on these things since there's multiple ways a person might go about acquiring them - but if we assume that a person would spend crystals on all of these items (minus the credits) in the weekly shipment store, AND we assume that the $20 crystal pack is the actual monetary value of crystals, here's the breakdown:
- CCB = 5 crystals each x20 = 100
- BW = 20 crystals each x20 = 400
- Chromium Transistor = 40 crystals each x20 = 800
- Aurodium Heatsink = 100 crystals each x9 = 900
- Electrium Conductor = 115 crystals each x6 = 690
- Zinbiddle Card = 140 crystals each x3 = 420
- Fragmented Signal Data = 15 crystals each x28 = 420
- Incomplete Signal Data = 20 crystals each x24 = 480
- Flawed Signal Data = 30 crystals each x15 = 450
- Normal Energy = .42 crystals each x200 = 84 (based on 50 crystals = 120 energy)
- Fleet Energy = .42 crystals each x200 = 84 (based on 50 crystals = 120 energy)
- 100 crystals = 100 crystals each x1 = 100
Total crystal cost = 4928
$20 crystal pack = 2800 crystals or $1 = 140 crystals
4928 crystals / 140 = $35.20
Considering the price of the pack is $10, this is one of those really scarce "good values" in the game. Value is of course a relative term.
The one thing in this list that I think is off is the aurodium heatsinks. Buying them at 100 crystals each should never be done. If you need them immediately, and you have absolutely none of the other currencies that can buy mk3 holo projector salvage, then the crystal purchase is 150 crystals for a full projector. That gets you 5 heatsinks, making each heatsink only worth 30 crystals. 30x9=270 rather than the 900 above.
That knocks 630 off the total for 4298÷140=$30.70, most of 5 bucks difference.
Even so, out of the regularly available packs, I always thought this was the best value one.
I agree, and I would add transistors to that as well - but what someone's willing to pay for is a subjective thing. If you only cared about items x, y, and z then you'd have to do the math to figure out what you're paying for those in particular and ignoring the rest. As a rule, I wouldn't buy signal data with crystals either - but it's hard to get an overall value assessment without including everything - or at least everything that can be easily priced.
You're right though. At the end of the day, the "value" is going to be tied to what in the pack you actually place value on - and I would never pay crystals for transistors or heatsinks - but some people definitely would. Even minus those two things - it still far outstrips the sale price in terms of value for the price. If I needed relic mats, I'd definitely consider pulling the trigger on this one.
