Relic Delta – The Solution to a problem that doesn’t exist

As a guild leader of a top 100 guild, here are my thoughts regarding this Relic Delta situation. Please articulate to the players “What is the problem you are trying to solve”? I work with large projects in industry and I realize there are Sunk Costs that cannot be recovered. However, Is this strategy to “fix” the perceived problem a success if a large section of the player base disappears?

 

I have asked my player base which is a combination of whales, dolphins, and basic monthly spenders ranging from 12M GP – 15M GP what they think about this, and it is literally 100% negative. The players don’t understand why this Relic Delta is needed as it seems you are rolling out a change to a problem that doesn’t exist.

 

The primary frustration is that this change nullifies the years of Modding and Strategic Relic upgrades and years of roster effort and pretty much eliminates creative play (which is the most enjoyable part of the game). I doubt a developer may understand that sentiment, but it is VERY important to the players. These are players that love the game and most are sick over this. I already have messages from players stating they will retire from the game if this rolls out.

 

The best suggestions that came in from my guild were:

  1. Simply increase the mastery of Relic 9 from 10 to 15.
  2. Increment certain stats on the current higher Relics.
  3. Roll out a new Relic 10. Whales will spend on that, leaving the rest of the player base to continue their progression as-is.

 

I personally think that any of those, and many others in the forums, are easy fixes to the problem without introducing MANY MANY more issues to the game that would come from this Relic Delta strategy, and hopefully leave the player base intact.

 

At this point you have a choice to make.

  1. Continue ahead with this flawed approach that the overwhelming majority of the player base does not even want - and risk a substantial percentage of players dropping out of the game.
  2. OR Cease and Desist all work on this change (unfortunately eat the costs already spent) and work on a different approach to solving your perceived issue.

  • The only real reason why I still play this game after almost 10 years was GAC. Even though the matchmaking is almost laughable at times and Datacons ruining the skill and theory crafting that was so much fun for me.  Being able to use my entire roster that I worked so hard on against a real opponent was a brilliant idea $$CG$$ had. Now they wanna double down and push us harder to get us worried that if we don’t have maxed out everything will never win a match again. They tried this with the Great Nerf of 2021. All non GL counters they could possibly think of were gutted. $$CG$$ instead of this lazy idiotic idea why don’t try and develop something that is fun and interesting and enjoyable for everyone!!!!!  Create a real raid like you did with the Sith raid!!!  That was cool and had something worth playing for with Darth Traya being the ultimate reward!!!  This is supposed to be a game not a cash register!!!

    They CHERRY picked their data to line up with their hypothesis.  There is no crisis or need.  .02% of battles, in GAC only, were low level (unspecified if it was R7, R8 or lower could beat an all R9 team.  Again limited data set, all cherry picked matches.  No data from Datacron usage, no TW, no Arena and no Conquest data used.  

    We were not told if it was a G12 GL Leia vs R9 under modded Jawas she beat or a Darth Traya team of Traya by herself with no mods.  The only math we have is .02% which is 2 of every hundred matches where no datacrons are involved, the lesser team took out an R9 team.  Thats not a huge issue and is again explained away by better kits, better modding, better synergy and zetas for the lesser team.  All within player control.  

    the problem CG is trying to portray is years down the road which they are putting in relic 10, so it kicks the can even further down the road.  It’s pure greed and all about a quick buck.

    I think it’s time to coordinate a walkout with all other members against the game for the delta relic deal and making a r10 coming up. Say a 2-7day no player engagement for all players in the game worldwide

    I'm close to the spending many have been calling a "dolphin" and HEY CG THIS IS BRAIN-DEAD STUPID. 

    I have waaaaay too much love for Star Wars, sunk costs into this game, and time invested, to turn my back on my guild-mates and simply drop the game.  But the moment ANY LEVEL OF 'RELIC-DELTA' shenanigans gets employed you will never see another cent from me. 

    Why invest in a light-speed or hyper-speed bundle for a bunch of characters or an entire squad or faction are USELESS until they are all R9?  The entire last remaining FUN in this game is figuring out creative counters and mods and squad comps that let you "PUNCH-UP" a level and take out a GL with a non-GL squad, or counter a higher Relic'd squad with creative ability usage. 
    THAT's IT. 
    Don't give us any of this complete BS about "the guy with one level higher Relics should win regardless of your creativity, and you can work your azz off doing hours of research and modding your team but the moment one of your opponents has a character at R9 you should always lose"? (*&%^*&^$&^%$
    WTAF losers, that's THE ENTIRE POINT of having better KNOWLEDGE, CREATIVITY, and SKILL - NOT "just higher relics".
    Morons.
