Yes, just don't sim if you don't want to, just have the option available for flexibility.
Like you, I work, and have a wife/children as well. I work as a firefighter/paramedic, so call volume and 8-hr drills can eat up free time really quickly. I could just sim the challenges while riding back from a call, for example, and be done with it.
