Resistance penetration vs protection question.

Hi. Can someone point me in the direction of an explainer as to why Resistance Penetration seems to completely ignore protection. I’m sure there are folks here the understand the nitty gritty mechanics.

Resistance Penetration (RP) is used to ignore a portion of the target's flat Resistance value. It shouldn't have any bearing on completely ignoring protection. Can you provide more information?
  • I didn’t record the battle itself, but for context I took SEE + Wat into a battle against JML, JKL, and HYoda, and lost my SEE with full protection but somehow zero health. Generally win this battle easily, so was trying to determine if this is due to his Datacron.

  • Only thing I could come up with was somehow the Datacron resistance penetration allowed the damage being dealt to ignore protection unless im forgetting about something else.
  • Riposte ignores protection completely, so when they attack out of turn they just go straight for the health
  • Here is another battle with my Rey team, you can see Hero Poe with full protection and half health from an attack, and it happens a couple of other times to Finn, one from HYoda using an ability.
  • Thanks for the comments on the Riposte. Definitely forgot about that. I knew I was missing something. Just way to much to remember with these Datacrons.
  • If only there was a way in-game to look up terms, buffs, debuffs, etc.
