Canon is actually a lot better established under Disney than before the sale. Under Disney, everything going forward became canon. Books, comics, etc. are all on the same level as the movies and TV shows. Under the old system, there were several levels of canon, with the movies being the top level. All the Legends stuff (which was then the EU) could be overwritten at any point. So quoting stuff like Wookieepedia isn't always the best answer.
At this point, at least canonically, we have only seen Jedi as Force Ghosts. The CW Darth Bane stuff is more of a grey area. In the EU, any dark side ghost was usually termed a Sith Spirit. We have already seen a bit of evolution in Force Ghosts. In the OT, there wasn't any physical interaction, but that certainly changed with Yoda in TLJ. We will have to wait to see if TROS changes things further.
