Canonically, only light side can become a force ghost.
Tell that to Darth Vader, whom ultimately was a Sith and did become a ghost.
You'll notice it was Anakin that became the ghost, not Vader.
If you watch the original film it is not anakin. That was after Disney acquired Lucasfilm and edited the film. It was originally Darth Vader the old man appearing as a ghost.
Um, that was absolutely not Disney, that was George Lucas. He made that change for the special edition DVD of Return of the Jedi in 2004.
