I agree with everything but point three. I do think first mod update was actually well positioned to make the game much more interesting in the long run. But the second mod update absolutely destroyed every bit of goodwill that built up in instant.
The first mod update was by far the best the game has seen (although I cannot understand why they didn't give us a hint of what to expect, and ask people to take things in stride for a time in the patch notes).
The second mod update is by far the worst the game has seen. It was the first I can actually describe as malicious.
