1. We see this suggested time and again, and it amazes me that people still think it’s appropriate to mandate signing up for TW. People have lives, and many choose not to signup for TW when they know they won’t be able to participate properly in the attack phase.
2. That’s interesting, but it would need to be a colossal difference before successful guilds would insist everyone signs up for TW - mainly for the reasons stated above.
The solution has already been suggested multiple times. Matchmaking should factor in both signed up GP AND number of signed up players. Job done.
The matchmaking system already does, to a degree. The signed up GP is used to match you against another guild. The number of defensive slots scales down to the guild with the lower number of players signed up. Doesn’t solve the sandbagging problem.
Now, an interesting and small solution to this would be to just change it so the defensive slots scale to the guild with the higher number of players. Then, the guild who only signed up 36 players has to fill 250 teams and will have to choose to either place a weaker defense or have a weaker offense. When they only have to place 180, they can have an amazing defense and still have an amazing offense.
