I was one of the few who got into swgoh because of ships. It was the last bastion of composition based play versus mod based play before the palpatine meta made mods less important in squad. I advised many on how to optimize their chances at fleet arena, how anyone could compete if they built the right pilots to jumpstart their income, and succeed with lesser fleets in territory wars. I'd say the reason I play is largely due to my part in helping people in my shard and guild communities excel at ships.
I recommended to many, and personally invested a lot of gold currency into gear 12 items for select pilots to solidify my fleet, and now all that advice makes me feel like I've ruined a lot of people's chances at optimal progression...like I inadvertently led them astray.
At this point the damage is done, but I'm hoping CG will consider a plan to fix it. One sure fire fix is resetting every single pilot and remove all gear invested and return it to inventory, all credits for pilot levels reset, all ships reset, all ship building and ability mats, all zetas on pilots, all omegas. if you really want a reset of the entire engine and system, let's do it right. Literally everything about the old ships system is out so we deserve a fresh start, don't we?
This looks and feels like bait and switch tactics to drive up revenue, but I have to believe CG wouldn't think of doing that as they are an upstanding company. What if squad arena was 10 on 10 tomorrow and palpatine zeta was changed to 1% tm gain per debuff, and ugnaught, mob enforcer, cup, Anakin, and Lobot all got annihilate from nihilus, who got his own annihilate replaced with taunt, where CLS loses all resistance and turn meter gain, and becomes a non taunting tank that has a max crit damage of 7k without offense up, and resistance now loses expose with their kits, instead the jtrey team kits given to geonosians,. The next thing they may do is swap Boba Fett and bossk kits after bossk goes ftp so boba now has taunt, plo koon may have his dispel on basic changed to protection up, give him a big party cleanse and effective hit points heal and St Han turn meter gain, along with gk's kit traded with Bohdi Rook to make crit based taunt more accessible. The community would erupt I bet, right?
CG just did it to ships.
Maybe we needed a change. We did not need, ask for, or hope to see every formerly sound fleet investment get completely ruined overnight. You wanted us to adopt ships. I did and helped a bunch of friends excel, and now those friends are furious that they threw away hermit Yoda or wampa at 7* to g12 3/3 tie fighter pilot, Biggs, fotp, and KyloUnmasked to arena speeds.
So now we must invest more resources into the same old ships to get almost back to where we were, stalling development in other vital areas (Hsith raid teams). We've jumped out of the pan and into the fire with this, and I'm just sunk.
I did not fail to climb because the ai cannot play the 3v 3 reinforcement system correctly, but once op Omega and reinforce mats skew the field that may change. I'll need to adapt no doubt, but with so many wasted resources and misled colleagues I've lost my urge to play. Essentially I've been turned into a liar, into giving bad advice to a lot of people, and that weighs heavily enough for me to post.
PS, lots of bugs (boba torpedoes!) need a hotfix so it's not too late to fix your grievous error in launching this prematurely. Please reset everything ship related to get the new ships running the right way, without hurting the playerbase you convinced to invest in ships, because I cannot be the only one who feels slighted.
Tie fighter pilot dodge is nerfed to Oblivion. Speed is not anywhere near as important with weaker starting offensive capabilities. I wasted thousands of my guildmate and shard chat dollars on upgrading pilots that were made of fool's gold, but sold as 24k.
What were they thinking?
