You don't have to "strike". Simply play that game mode as often as you enjoy it. They allegedly look at player participation numbers. If there is suddenly a 70% drop in fleet arena participation (and people aren't spending crystals to refresh) they will likely consider addressing the situation they've created.

For me, pre-update, I used to refresh once and do all 10 fleet arena battles. Since, I have spent 0 crystals on fleet arena and not even used my 5 battles. Still finish in the top 20 (since apparently the apathy towards "Shipmess 2.0" runs strong in my fleet arena shardmates as well) doing 1-2 battles in each of the last two days. That's 80-90% drop in participation. If most of the people complaining simply "voted with their participation" CG would notice.

True, but in all fairness "participation" is a euphemism for spend. Sadly, they've painted themselves into a corner right now. They've alienated some potentially significant component of the player base (as evidenced by this forum and the less curated version on Reddit). They've also provided a good for money. If they revert to make alienated players happy, they alienate a different set that have a financial position.

I'm stunned at how badly they misread the player base on this change, and equally stunned at how poorly it was executed. Apparently, they've never heard of a soft launch. They should have launched the PvE table first in the new format, given it some period of time so players became accustomed to it, understood the mechanics, and had the ability to wisely choose upgrades. Instead, they did the opposite, deploying 40 minutes prior to a payout (US East Coast) with no ability to understand how the new mechanics work and inciting panic.

Throw in nerfing existing ships and removing two usable ship slots altogether that you cannot even bring into the battle, and you get what amounts to a decent size failure.
