Ships dependent on characters??

Meaning if i have a 4 star Biggs, will his ship be unlocked and 4 star? Will the ships be dependent on the character which will have players devote their time to other characters that they normally wouldn't put time into?

I would bet, that the ships are farmable .. But just usable with the right pilot.. So if u want the milenium falcon, u have to have han solo..or lando Without those, u cant use this ship.. Also they are farmable like toons which means 330 shards needed .. They may consume cantina energy :D and also gear stuff etc..
