I was absolutely happy until I hit a brick wall and now can only advance by spending cash. Maybe you enjoy throwing cash at them for everything but I do not.
A brick wall? its literally been one day since release... do you expect to unlock everything in a day? this isn't an RTS like Starcraft
I can see a bit of a brick wall here too. As in, unlike the normal section of the game, LS/DS battles or Cantina battles to farm shards - there is no way to actually farm for blueprints. You have to do well in Fleet Arena to get the Fleet Store tokens you need to get more ships.
However, it will become increasingly more difficult to do "well" when P2P players are buying all the available stuff they need from Store Packs - its actually tipped the scales of F2P vs P2P way off, even if you are a "Dolphin" player.
Having said that, apparently Fleet Arena will pair you to a similar rank/power - but if you can't move ahead, its going to be a long-haul. Hence the brick wall comment.
Simple fix would be to release DS/LS or cantina-like battles for ships where you can farm blueprints.
there are shards available in DS/LS, cantina and even in the gw rewards (highly recommended)... you can also spend cantina rewards on ship credits
