I think you could also implement a power gaining / offense up tactic where, similar to Kylo Ren, you gain defense / offense up till your next turn. This could lead to some very deadly tuant / aoe bomb tactics where you can sit back, eat damage, and be able to unleash some nukes as counter attacks. We need more leaders and skills that counter speed and aggressive attacking.

You completely missed the offense gaining part and comparing him to Kylo. So no... I didn't describe Chewy's leader at all.
"you gain defense / offense up till your next turn" ... thought it is a "or" - and i was mainly kidding anyway ;)

I compared the skill to Kylo, so was thinking more like his unique where he gains 50% defense and 15% offense each time he's attacked based on his unique. A whole team doing that would really charge up power when they finally do get to hit.
There is a similar mechanic ingame already ... just not when get attacked, but while attack: Ezra gains 10% offense after his turn (stacks up to 4 times = +40% in total), lead by Hera, all Phoenix guys get this bonus ... but yeah, its again just the opposite of a speed-COUNTER. :(
Exactly - it's another skill that builds up when you attack - so it actually creates incentive to be fast - not take damage and be slow.
