Making Assault Battle events around specific marquee characters is simply a greedy, short-sighted move.
Their plan was to keep introducing new marquee ABs to push f2p-friendly marquees out of rotation so that we would lose resources if we didn't chase the newest marquees. I don't know what they thought the long-term plan would be—keep replacing ABs forever with new ones, making investments in AB units temporary with uncertain ROI? That doesn't seem like great plan for anyone or much of an enticement for spenders.
I could accept new ABs based on factions—say, Imperial Remnant. At least then, players have some choice about how they overcome the challenge. But requiring very specific marquees is garbage.
