Squad arena enemies

When I was a bit lower power, for some reason, I always had opponents that were like around 20k power higher than me? There was also some people hundreds of ranks higher than me, so I don't know why my opponents were that overpowered. Now that I got some G13s and I play Squad arena, its like a walk in the park due the fact that people are around 50k power lower.
