Yes and no
I agree that on my main where I climb in fleet for top spot this is a huge improvement and was much needed.
However in my other 3 arenas (main account squad arena and both on my alt account) I'm finding it harder to climb because one spot is locked on the same team so It's harder to find the team I can have the best chance of beating.
That's why I changed my mind to a toggle option half way through my post that way it's up to the player

Let's say you're rank 200. Under the old system, the left panel would let you fight #199. How is that worth anything?
I just tested with my alt and from rank 213 the left panel still gave me 212 as an option.
So instead of showing 3 different options between 212 and 179 across all 3 panels, all those options except 179 are squeezed into the left and middle panels. This problem gets exponentially worse depending on how far back you are in arena.
Again this was a good change and needed at the top of the arena spectrum but should be a player chòice because it can be a pain at lower ranks
