Stars need to mean more

I'm getting a little irritated with all the the low star toons running around arena. Specifically Chaze, Nihilus and the other marquee sith.

Stars need to be worth more. I'm sorry but these lower star characters shouldn't be competitive with the 7* equivalent especially with superior mods. Why bother buying packs and chromiums if there is no real advantage? Being usable in the raid is a weak answer since both raids have gotten stale.

I propose that stats be weighted similar to ships with star level. You don't see low star ships competitive in top end arena on developed leaderboards. Maybe reduce speed with lower stars or something.

I recognize that mods and gear are important but star level should be just as important.

  • So you want the grind to be even longer??

Nah, I'm good. Gear is king for strength. Stars are there for usefulness, more stars more areas toons cam be used in. No reason to tie them together.

Yeah! Only people who spend money should have things! If you can't buy a vault, GTFO!
  • stars mean pretty a lot. They are less important for some support ('toolkit') characters or tanks, but the difference still persists. No attacker can be really viable at 4-5*, bc stars influence on their dmg, and make them even more squishy than they are. And Raids, as you mentioned.
The fact that people can compete with non-7* characters only benefits the game since it brings diversity in Arena and at the same time p2p players enjoy some additional advantages of having some toons at full strength. Before Protection and mods, stars meant really a lot. And there were 45 identical f2p viable teams in my top-50. Believe me, it's not what people want here.
  • Somewhat agree. Odd example but saying that my toon is 7 star out of 7 sounds a lot "cooler" than gear 10 out of 12 yet they are about as strong as each other.

It's also a more "fun" to grind shards of your favorite character than "MK9 blahblahblah droid" a gazillion times.

That said, the game has many more important problems than this.
  • Stars do matter when it comes to DPS. Characters like nillus though and chaze are an exception because of there kit. If anything it's the devs getting more and more outrageous when it comes to kits is whats making star level less important.
  • I mean.. Who acquires gear fastest? People who pay.

So if there is already a pretty decent advantage when it comes to gear.. Why the fuss about stars too?
