Starting the next Raid with "Toons added later" isn't cool!

The plan to add Pirates into the raid after it is launched isn't a nice thing to do.  Posting this information inside of a character FAQ on the on ea.com site and not the SWGOH site is also very telling.   It seems CG is trying to avoid the potential community uproar.

Beyond the clear disconnect between the raid theme and the Pirate faction, I completely agree based on the current marquee release schedule and probable level of investment needed for the upcoming raid that this is a poor decision, and we need, at minimum, a clear update on the raid expectations from players to be able to either retain or max crate the new raid.

As someone who has both been whaling and saving as many resources as possible to power up the new clones, Tarkin, the new Jedi Vanguard for the new Mace, and the new Bad Batch, it feels like a bit of a low kick to throw in the incomplete Pirate faction into the raid just to drive people to spend.

We don’t event know yet if the rewards will be proportional to the level of investment likely to be required to make players not want to rip their hair out with frustration over a possible RNG fest a la Naboo raid. Unless the Pirate faction is to be a fun added bonus with the other three teams (possibly four with other Jedi Vanguard) being able to achieve max crate, this is a poor move in my opinion, especially when the announcement of the Pirate faction being the last remaining faction needed was not shared with the same enthusiasm and plausible transparency as other updates on more popular platforms that alert players, such as as SWGOH Events.

Lastly, the game is in urgent need of a solution to the insufferable amount of time it takes to perform repeat activities. If I have gotten a certain score range in the raid in the last, LET ME SIM IT. CG should be making every effort to make anything that is repetitive and not fun after the thousandth time simmable across all non-PvP game modes. Period. On a tangential note, some later TB planets have the same problem with enemies that are pure damage sponges where even R9 is a slog fest…

  • Hard to understand the reasoning here CG.

Must be a massive jump in resources you've got planned as raid rewards because I know a lot of guilds are not going to be keen on dropping reward levels while the work these 5x new teams up.

But I guess you've got the player engagement metrics squared away because you plugged this news on some other website a week or so ago and no mention of it where you tell you players where to get news for your game.  Maybe post your SM33 over here as well.

Also that's really sour taste right after star wars week so it probably a good idea to get infront of this with information on the raid and prize rewards along with detailed information on how the in game economy is going to support a shift to 4x new marque + a legendary+ conquest lifter as the 5th squad.

And oh yeah maybe lead with how you aren't going make it an RNG junk fest like the 1st 7 months on naboo.  Playing an unfun, unrewarding raid after shelling out cash and resources for the new hotness teams only to be slapped sideways for 7-8 months seems like a way to progress to a new level of pride and accomplishment

Not sure if this is what you've got planned - so jump in and point out all the flaws in my theory.

Anyway ball's in your court CG

yea it's hard enough for most guilds to get people to build for the raid this doesnt help.

  • This is pretty outrageous. The new raid will require characters from 3 Eras! 9 months of just the Marquee events!  Free-to-play players won’t have the last characters until 7 months into the raid’s life cycle if it launches in July. Not to mention you also need a new Legendary character and two Conquest characters.

I always assumed we were going to have two squads of Jedi Vanguard, the Mace Windu team and a team of leftovers maybe bolstered in the same way the Luminara team is in the Naboo raid.  Now, unless CG would like to clarify, it seems apparent that we get one Jedi Vanguard team and two Pirates. We might technically get a second Vanguard team in the form of existing characters meant to be used if you don’t have the new Vanguards but I don’t think they will be meant to be able to achieve a max score and if you have the new characters, the leftovers most likely won’t be intended to get any kind of good score on their own.

But the real insult is that the final two squads won’t be available when the raid launches even if you are the whaliest of big spenders.  They simply won’t be released on time. The Uber Krakens can’t send five teams into the raid on day one no matter what they spend and free-to-play will be lucky if they have five teams after nine months and the raid becomes obsolete.

CG should delay the raid’s release until all characters are actually available some way in game. Just what exactly made anyone over there think this was a good idea?

This, it's one thing for new teams to be required in the raid. Expected. But naboo is about to end and people are still screaming for Jarjar event to return. He averages every 3 months, for a raid where his team is a core requirement. Pre-emptive don't come at me with gungans work as a four man, not the point.
With the new raid we're going to have the same situation with new Mace AND probably one of the pirate leads? Don't tell me there won't be a key member of the team gated behind an event. These need to have more frequent cadences if they're intended to be used in a fixed duration event like a raid.

Why spend on anything with this amount of uncertainty?
