The one thing they have going for them is the lack of synergy to them ( for the most part) it allows you to bring in toon the might not fit the team (leader ability ) and give them a buff.
I don't think they are bad for the game. IMO
I believe the whole game is really just like GW, you need to build a broad roster. No one team should counter everyone always. Yes there are solid teams that can stand the test of time, but they will slowly fade.
