Territory Wars

CG - literally what is the point of Territory Wars? The matchmaking is beyond a joke.

This round, we are facing a guild with over 200m GP advantage on us. We are generally a play for fun team, so why should we expect to have to compete with a guild as big as that? We’ve reached a point where many players don’t even bother to contribute as it’s pointless.

This isn’t a one off either - it’s the usual story, with the odd mismatch in our favour thrown in. I’d happily ignore this game mode, except the rewards (Mk3 re-roll mats) are too important. You’ve essentially paywalled these mats, so TW is the only free way to get them.

I can’t imagine were the only guild in this situation, so please sort the matchmaking mechanics out or provide a fairer way for smaller guilds to access the TW rewards, particularly the e Mk3 re-roll mats.

Please do something CG!!!!!!!

  • I very much agree with the sentiment; TW matchmaking is pretty awful.  I'm not sure about your diagnostics though, are you 200 million GP lower as a guild or are you 200 million GP lower for this territory war?

The 2 things are very different.  I believe 200 million GP is beyond the match making criteria.

Something where they took the GP signed up, win rate and numbers signed up would surely provide better matchmaking.  However, I don't think they're that bothered as long as we do the thing.  TW doesn't bring in the revenue for them to overly care.

They have somewhere closer to 180m GP (not 200m) more than us. They are a very top end guild with their lowest GP player at 15.7m

Our guild averages something like 13m GP per player.

We’re totally outmatched & can’t clear a single wall of theirs & they full cleared ours writhin a couple of hours.

Their “weakest” guild member has 700k more gp than our strongest member 😂

Without knowing the details of the guilds it’s hard to know whether one prioritises TW omicrons/squads, or if they just have more (and better) DCs which don’t count towards GP. Those changes can massively impact TW performance with similar GPs. Either way, there’s actually a really simple solution to this: more GP bands at the top end with better and more rewards in the top bands.

That way you force the biggest guilds to prioritise engagement in TW, as at the moment lots of players just don’t care for it. It’s not intentional sandbagging (although I know many will contest this fact), it’s just a lack of care because the modes rewards really aren’t that great compared to other modes that need equal time investment. More GP for the top bands would mean more players signing up in the bigger guilds, and so fewer mismatches on average GP per player.

  • Match making is based off of GP that joined TW... the problem with that is it encourages sandbagging... which is what a lot of guilds do, and makes this game mode absolutely terrible.  And to make matters worse, they "try" to keep matchups within 50mil GP of each other, which doesn't always happen.

CG really doesn't care about fixing it, or they would have already.

The matchmaking is based off of what has signed up for the TW, not the whole guild's GP.  So if only 25 sign up, that's the GP, not the whole guild's GP.  That is why matchmaking is made after the sign up period has expired.

Considering the abysmal state of TW, I honestly don't see why a guild shouldn't sandbag their way to easy wins. It's just a way to collect some droid brains and mk3 datacron rerolls. Sometimes there's a TW-related episode quest. Loot is horribly outdated, the upper GP limit represents a mid-game guild, and 24 hour phases are incompatible with many players' real-life schedules. SWGOH is almost 11 years old. Some people who started playing in high school are adults with jobs and kids now. They can't be available every 3 hours during the day so officers can micromanage counters for each zone.
