With Vader I am just quite uncertain about it. I kind of assume all the characters will be farmable eventually, but vader's ship, he could be rare, like his shards, or they could easily make him common, I just don't know.

You are also right we don't know with any of the tourney characters, I suppose I also feel this way more now because this tourney is more valuable to me than the others.

Personally I won't be able to use him that effectively in the next month I don't think, because I don't think I have enough characters geared and ready for ships to compete for top spots, but for others yes they'll get that from it. For that reason I want it to be worth it to go for 7* if possible, but am having trouble justifying. I will see how my tourney shard is. But in the end I'll just go haam cos it's Vader, let's be serious.

Well I mean I just gave one example. Many ships can do good stuff with target locks. Currently the only other way to get irresistible TL is Fives or Bistan, both of which are on a cooldown and aren't persistent. Vader will work with most ships I would think provided the opening fleet comp doesn't have specific needs for all 5 spots.

His ship will be great but the whole tournament setup is stupid. I mean some shards need to get 18k to win. Others 10k. How is that right? It is also really boring and that is my main issue.

So, in Japan the tournament started already. I don't know whether it's the same time like everyone but.. If not I'd like to share the rewards with you.
The first place would get 330 shards and 1.97 M (ship-)credits and a bunch of level 4 trainingdroids.
The second gets 260 shards, 3rd 230, 4th 170, 5th 145, 6-10 100, 10-25 80. The rest won't be able to unlock the TIE.

After top 25 the next bracket is 26-100

I'll be saving my ally points for the next tournament. Right now, I see ships as a means to get Zeta materials, which I can achieve without getting the TIE Advanced. That may change over time, but IMO right now, it's not worth the effort.
