The missing point of all this Malak anger — is the fact would these reactions be as heightened if it wasn’t for all the compounding mistakes and lack of content and extensive grinding we’ve all put into this game?
Simply put, all this anger and frustration is probably not due to the Malak controversy but the compounding “bad” decisions CG has made:
The expansion of requirements for events
The release of g12 finishers and relics all within a short time
The miscommunication of store currency being used for gear vs stockpiling for the next meta
The Carrie leaving
Gen Anakins massive requirements for a five star unlock
The lack of true new content — not just pay for new characters and gear
The missing point is that we have told CG this is acceptable. We keep paying and keep playing. Isn’t that how they interpreted the new relic system?!?
The missing point is that if this is a cash cow business model— they are killing the cow. All the game changers are now advertising new games, the new games’ chat forums is all swgoh complaints...
The missing point is until the top whales complain CG isn’t going to change. The whales keep the lights on.
The missing point is the “new” content of stuff to buy is for whales. Carry said this many times: the first round only a tip of the spear but the next iteration more players can get it.
The missing point is the whales need to demand more actual game content — unless new gear and relics for characters already bought and have to reinvest in is what they want.
I’m a fat dolphin; I do not have the voice to do this.
Whales, save this game while there is a player base. Whales, typically the slogan is save the whales, but it’s up to you to save the game.
It comes down to the fact that using guild event tokens for finishing epic confrontation characters was a really poorly thought out design that pissed people off for months. Nobody likes that people were punished in buying gear for characters with those tokens and then they dropped the bomb on people that your very difficult character to earn had to have several months worth of GET1 tokens to finish, then they said they wouldn't do that again, then General Skywalker comes around and they did it again.
I really doubt there are any players who sincerely like this gating method outside of people who hoarded for no real reason and it paid off for them. Now people feel afraid to spend currencies just wondering how CG will screw them over if they don't hoard next.
This event returned, gave shards, and for a brief instant, players thought "Oh, maybe CG is changing their mind about shards in the GET shop, or at least Malak since he's old now, this is more fair this way, maybe I can give them back some goodwill after they trampled all over said goodwill with the GS event, Relics coming right after G13, etc.... and then this bomb drops, it's just the last straw for some people. They thought CG was doing something decent, turns out they weren't being decent afterall, and that's just all it takes.
They thought, just for a moment, that CG had some actual human beings on their staff. Only to be proven wrong.
